Wilderness Guide Arctic Level 2 - WGA
Ecoregion: Arctic / Antarctic - Coldweather
Plan, organize, equip, and safely implement a multi-day (typically 7 or more days) winter camping expedition; in environments which may include open water, fast ice, river&lake ice, snow, land ice, forest, tundra, alpine plateau´s, hilly and mountainous terrain.
*note: work accordingly local laws and professional guiding legal requirements
Skills of an Arctic Guide:
- guide groups on demanding expeditions in wilderness areas
- organize a travel or expedition on international level with a length of more then 7 days
- train and prepare participants within its professional profile
- be aware of technical, mental and physical condition of participants at any time
- apply adequate techniques in order to minimize environmental impacts
- understand and transmit local social and cultural behaviour
- interpretate and share knowledge on local flora & fauna
SPECIFIC TRAINING MODULES
1. Introduction module – December 2018 - homestudy modality
2. Practical Module - 9-18 February 2019 - BALTIC SEA SWEDEN
A 10-days intensive instructor-led on-site training and self-training activities Sea Ice, Expedition Kiting, Boreal Forest -- Baltic Sea, Sweden (Arrival day 09 February - meeting place Lulea)
3. Practical module - 2-19 March 2019 - GREENLAND (East coast)
A 18 days intensive instructor-led on-site training and self-training activities
(2 and 19 March flight days to Greenland from Iceland)
COST: 3.250 Euros (ex alumni 5% discount)

Requirements
- Aged 18 years or older
- Intermediate level of English
- Level 1 WGA training / International Mountain Leader / Mountain Guide/ ....or similar
- Level 1 WGA qualification level/proven experience and training
After the specific training modules a training period of minimum 28 days is required and participants are assessed to obtain the W.G.A. level certification.
